About House of Destiny
THE HOUSE OF DESTINY, located at Votaw, Texas, is a program of
transitional physical, spiritual, emotional, and daily living. This
program also allows special opportunity for women to
reconnect with their families and re-establish their role as
mothers. Women who find themselves in destitute or dangerous
environments can also find a place of safety and refuge at House
of Destiny.
House of Destiny Living
At THE HOUSE OF DESTINY a place of comfort and stability is
found. The build has six furnished bedrooms. Each bedroom has
two twin beds. The bedrooms are furnished and prepared by
sponsors desiring to meet the needs of each resident. Each room
is named for a notable woman of the Bible, which are: Ruth,
Esther, Sarah, Anna, Leah, and Deborah. There are two
restroom/baths with shower and tub accommodations. A
spacious kitchen named Martha’s Kitchen is equipped with basic
needs for meeting the demands of daily food preparation by the
women. A large living room area will not only be used for
evening hours but also will be utilized as classroom area for the
various ongoing classes and group time. An on staff in-house
manager oversees all activity. A fully equipped office enables
smooth transition and communication of daily activities. Votaw
Worship Center is located across the street and is used for daily
chapel and some class instruction time. The gym of the Family Life
Center is utilized for recreation and aerobic activities.
House of Destiny Mission
Our mission is to empower women in crisis through meeting the
physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, equipping them to
develop a life of wholeness and hope. Statistics show that
approximately 60 percent of women ex-offenders will return to
prison within the first year of their release. The mission of House
of Destiny is to break that cycle.
House of Destiny Goals
Women leaving prison or jail are usually jobless, homeless, and
frequently hopeless. Where does she go? If she returns to her
previous environment, she may soon be back behind bars.

The lack of services available to non-violent female ex-offenders
once released from incarceration recreates hopelessness.
Often these are women, who have been convicted of non-violent
crimes, which include: drug dealing, drug possession, fraud,
forgery, DUI, theft, prostitution, or burglary. These women have
served out their prison or jail sentence and may be on parole or
probation.

Votaw Lighthouse Outreach Ministry, Inc. (V.L.O.M., Inc.), Votaw
Worship Center, KeyLife Ministries, and, “The House of Destiny”
outreach ministry for women is committed to partnering with
churches and specialists in the community to serve the women,
and prepare them for a productive life. As House of Destiny helps
women regain their independence and determination to establish
stable families, then the rates of crime, drug abuse, addictive
behavior and recidivism will be lowered. Society, as a whole, will
benefit.
